About the founder
The path from learning to code to founding GIE Systems.
2014 – 2015
It all began in 2014, fueled by curiosity and a thirst for knowledge. Shahen started programming and quickly fell in love with what technology could do. In 2015, the Dutch company BuilderEngine brought him on board as a software engineer.
BN Systems
Later, he founded BN Systems — a small team of about 20 people — where he began working closely with Shopify merchants. That experience shaped how he thinks about ecommerce: not just shipping features, but building tools that help real stores sell, operate, and grow.
2023 – GIE Systems
In 2023, Shahen left BN Systems and founded GIE Systems. Today, GIE focuses on SaaS solutions for Shopify, is an official Shopify Partner, and works with growing Shopify merchants who need reliable custom apps and long-term support.
